West Houston and Katy are known for incredible Independent School Districts, each has its own set of strengths. As always, you should talk to families, do your own due diligence to find the best accommodations for your children. But, I hope this information gives you a good start!
Katy ISD
Stretching over 181 square miles, Katy Independent School District serves more than 73,000 students in parts of Fort Bend County. Katy ISD is home to 63 schools with plans to add six new schools by 2021. Although Katy schools are known for top-notch sports, Katy ISD has a graduation rate of 94.5% one of the top in the state! Making lists like Newsweek’s “America’s Top 500 Public High Schools”, Katy ISD schools have also earned some of the highest ratings in Texas from organizations that rank schools using test scores and graduation data, including GreatSchools.org and Children At Risk.
Lamar Consolidated ISD
The Lamar Consolidated serves more than 32,000 students at its 39 campuses. LCISD’s schools have smaller enrollments and class sizes than other districts serving Fort Bend County, which could be contributing to its high pass-rate on the standardized tests and ability to foster leadership in the student body. Over 75% of Lamar Consolidated’s Schools are ranked as Exemplary or Recognized by the Texas Education Agency. With the influx of master-planned communities, LCISD plans to add five new schools in the near future.
Fort Bend ISD
Fort Bend Independent School District is the 7th largest school district in Texas by enrollment hosting students at 78 campuses, including three unique secondary campuses with specialized academics. Following suit of Fort Bend County, FBISD is one of the most culturally diverse school districts in Texas! FBISD students are given opportunities to participate in programs like The National Merit Scholars Program, the National Association of Music Merchants, and the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. FBISD high schools overall have a 95.3% and have been recognized by Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report.
